The talent of Berlin DJ and taste-maker DANIEL W. BEST, head of Booking and Event Agency Best Works in the field of A&R is now unquestioned, as he released the music of great artists such as EVA BE, KABUKI or FROST & WAGNER on his own imprint Best Seven. With THE BLACK SEEDS the long running companion to JAZZANOVA and Sonar Kollektiv spotted once again a band that deserves international recognition and decided to bring it to a wider European audience.

It became a fact that if you are looking for music fusing the intensity of Soul with the groove of Reggae, you are on the highway to heaven with Best Seven. In order to find this exquisite music flavour Berlin’s finest Connoisseur in Reggae and Soul DANIEL W. BEST knows the right way to go and New Zealand is one of his favorite destinations. He already made his contribution to the worldwide popularity of the New Zealand collective FAT FREDDYS DROP and he is now ready to spread the good vibrations of FAT FREDDYS New Zealand home-boys, THE BLACK SEEDS, to our European ears.

THE BLACK SEEDS is a 100% pure New-Zealand product: a Wellington-based 7 piece-band producing an original blend of Soul, Funk, Reggae and Dub that got their home-country grooving around for about 10 years. They carved out their reputation on the sunny side of the globe on the strength of 2 studio albums Keep on Pushing (2001) and On The Sun (2003). They respectively achieved gold and double-platinum sales in New Zealand. This critical acclaim and their superstar status in their home-country are all but coincidence. THE BLACK SEEDS are one of the only bands that manage to cross over and bridge the gap between Reggae, Funk and Pop music with their pacifican party sound that got crowds skanking all over the country.

Sometimes Enough EP is the perfect 12“ to win new fans in Europe. It is all-rounder record gathering 2 of the best tracks of On The Sun and presenting two tracks of their forthcoming album „Into the Dojo“, which to be released in Summer 2007 on Best Seven.
Sometimes Enough is the first single of Into the Dojo in New-Zealand and one of the finest tracks of THE BLACK SEEDS, where the drums and guitars jumping grooves contrast perfectly with the light voice of singer Barnaby Weir. It will make your heart „ready to unfold“. The second excerpt of their forthcoming album called Way The World is a moody ballad in a dub-reggae „no-comply“ style that feels like a sunny sunday afternoon. On the flipside THE BLACK SEEDS present a sensational Afro-beat to make us dance to the tune Senegal Champions Of Africa and reveal the poppy side of their music with So True without losing their authentic pacifican dub-touch with tight drumming sections and light trumpet melodies.

With Sometimes Enough EP the BLACK SEEDS give a new dimension to Reggae. A renewal that will fit perfectly in the European musical landscape.
