PHAROAH ROCHE are a production outfit from London. The duo met whilst working in a record store. It was not long before they started producing tracks for Toothless Records and JAZZANOVA's Berlin based Sonar Kollektiv. Their releases encompass many styles from funk to ambient to broken beat to electronic to jazz and much more.
On their continuous quest for fresh new music JAZZANOVA bumped into the two Londoners ERGIN and GLEN aka PHAROAH ROCHE who are both obviously influenced by the West London broken beat sound. Their first tune Sun Of A Beach has been a substantial part in most JAZZANOVA DJ Sets in the past and appeared on JAZZANOVA's ...broad casting mix (SK092CD/EP).
Now PHAROAH ROCHE contribute the next branch in the ever expanding musical tree that is Sonar Kollektiv's exclusive download portal. Drifting Away is an ultra laid back slow groove ideal for chillin' or building up tension on the dance floor early on in the night. Musically it is a fusion of funky break beats combined with a fat bass groove and garnished with wonderfully soulful Fender Rhodes melodies. This lovely track comes in two versions available exclusively through Digital Kollektiv. The first is an original mix which would work well as a radio edit, and the there is also a fine extended version which is ideal for playing out.
These boys are known as "the eclectic maestros" as switch genres just as much as Rafa Benitez changes his starting eleven. Its an indefinable style that represents a fusion of hip-hop, soul, jazz, funk and break beat. Their diversity has reached and impressed the likes of JOHN PEEL (BBC Radio 1), ZANE LOWE (BBC Radio 1), JUSTIN WILKES (Kiss 100FM), SEIJI (BUGZ IN THE ATTIC), DJ HELL (International Deejay Gigolos) and EROL ALKAN (Trash) amongst others.
