Jazzanova - Upside Down - OUT NOW! 2012 will be big for Sonar Kollektiv!
We'll kick off with the new Jazzanova compilation - Upside Down, including some of the hottest remixes done for Jazzanova!

You already can preorder the digital version on iTunes, which contains remixes that are not on the CD - from amazing artists like Filippo Moscatello (aka DJ Naughty), Mark E, Vaitaitau and Bond & B.MA. And for those who’ll need more key points, you’ll get a digital booklet on top of that! Releasedate is 13th of January.

For the CD version you'll have to wait until January 23rd, but you already can preorder it on Amazon and of course, soon at our webshop!

Upside Down - Digital EP This is the digital EP accompanying the Jazzanova Remix compilation Upside Down.

It contains some remixes of the two 12inches (SK229 & SK230) by Manuel Tur & Dplay ; Dima Studitsky and Alex Barck. As a bonus you'll get the Holy Ghost! remix of „I Can See“ and the Christian Prommer remix of „Look What You're Doin' To Me“ which are not to be found on the CD.

Manuel Tur probably needs no further introduction. Or you haven't been to a night club for the last ten years and therefore haven't heard some of the most thrilling house music coming out of Germany in the last decade. Teaming up with upcoming producer and remixer Dplay the Essen based wunderkind built one hell of a deephouse monster out of Look What You're Doin' To Me , on this digital EP
available as Instrumental Version only!

Originally released with the album Of All The Things from 2008, Little Bird features the exceptional tonsils of José James. A singer who has worked with luminaries like Moodyman and Flying Lotus and is capable of bridging traditional jazz vocals with modern sounding club music. Alex Barck's rework of the song does not only do justice to the original but turns into a sure shot dancefloor smash with lots of peaks and emphasis. You will see the ladies go bezerk over this one, trust us!

I Can See is also one of the tracks off the Of All The Things album and features no other than Ben Westbeech on vocals. Dima Studitsky (one of Moscow's underground club scene honchos) remixed the track in a way which makes it the perfect companionship to the one by Alex Barck. Slightly sombre, hauntingly driven, but still super sexy, just like one of the legendary club nights he runs in Moscow ("The Cult", "Propaganda", "Shanti" etc.). You can flip this record either way you want to and you always end up with the right track to play.

Neve Naive - Dancer (Official Video) Out Now! Weed and Candy proudly presents the scorcher video for the new Berlin based music project called NEVE NAIVE.

Neve Naive - also known as Miss Flint (Mic) and Merse (Music) - will release their debut album on Sonar Kollektiv in 2012. "Dancer" is the first introduction to our new artist.

The video features a set filmed in complete UV-light enviorenment with loads of handmade tricks and effects. A Making Of of this wonderful piece is coming very soon.

At BERLIN MUSIC DAYS (BerMuDa) the berlin based label SONAR KOLLEKTIV will showcase its new releases. It all takes place on the 2nd of November 2011, at the new Berlin Club GRETCHEN. 30-40 min. Live Sets of MICATONE, NEVE NAIVE and STEE DOWNES will give a taste of what will happen in the Sonar Kollektiv Universe during the next six months.

Some details:

So far, MICATONE has released 3 successful Albums on SONAR KOLLEKTIV, the last one in 2005. Since then the Band members have been busy with other projects: The MICATONE driven mayor project NYLON, for example, released 2 new records and MICATONES leadsinger LISA BASSENGE intensively toured the recently released long player NUR FORT, the third of her Soloproject LISA BASSSENGE TRIO. But now they managed to finish their fourth record LIEBE GRÜSSE DARLING, which will be released in March 2012 on SONAR KOLLEKTIV. MICATONE is playing around with Soul, Surf, Beat and Blues quotations. The main focus is on songwriting making LIEBE GRÜSSE DARLING straighter, more grown up and solid. Check out MICATONE at the SONAR KOLLEKTIV Label Night during BerMuda at GRETCHEN!

The duo NEVE NAIVE consists of producer and multiinstrumentalist STEFAN "MERSE" ULRICH and the Singer NEVE aka ALEXA VOSS who writes the lyrics. MERSE is well known to JAZZANOVA fans as he plays the trombone at their band. He is also part of THE RUFFCATS. A band with the up coming FLOMEGA performing soon at the BUNDESVISION SONG CONTEST. NEVE has a solo Project called MISS FLINT and she is part of the Reggaeband JAHCOUSTIX and THE OUTSIDEPLAYERS. She also has experience through background singing for LAITH LADEEN, CULCHA CANDELA, FLOMEGA, MARTIN JONDO and MELLOW PARK. MERSES and NEVES music is lovingly and eccentric with honest and touching lyrics. A little bit naive and ironic: simply NEVE NAIVE! The Debut will soon be out on SONAR KOLLEKTIV.

In 2008 STEE DOWNES released his debut on SONAR KOLLEKTIV. The result has been an extensive tour with his live band. The STEE DOWNES BAND played on stages together with ROY AYERS, AMP FIDDLER, FAT FREDDYS DROP, BUGZ IN THE ATTIC and DJ SPINNA. As a Songwriter and singer he recently became a topselling beatport artist with the LOVEBIRD produced track WANT YOU IN MY SOUL. Collaborations with RAINER TRÜBY, MOTOR CITY DRUM ENSEMBLE will soon be available. His new long player will be an important SONAR KOLLEKTIV release early summer 2012. STEE's performance at BerMUDa 2011 will contain a solo guitar-, and a solo vocal part as well as a DJ-performance. We are curious!

In the middle of KREUZBERG, at the former stables of the 1. prussian guard dragooner regiment „QUEEN VICTORIA OF GREAT BRITAIN AND IRELAND“ GREETCHENS Design features both, an historic charme and a cool club athmosphere. From now on the beautiful cross vault with its filigran columns will be filled with sounds of bass driven beats and with lightshows. A future heaven for music lovers and dancers.

Coming Home: the title alone poses the minds behind this compilation series quite a challenge. DJ Hell has flown the flag so to speak, by predominantly featuring music made in Germany (or music related somehow to Germany). Nouvelle Vague, bowing to the history of its name, has taken “home” to mean cinema – which is why their contribution to the series consists purely of soundtracks.

The busy-bee producers and DJs that make up the Jazzanova collective have selected tracks they personally like to spin (also) at home: an eclectic world of sound they feel good in. Unlike earlier Jazzanova compilations, the selection this time was made not only by the DJs in the collective – Alexander Barck, Claas Brieler and Jürgen von Knoblauch, who also do a radio show under the Jazzanova moniker – but also by the producers – Stefan Leisering and Axel Reinemer, who have been touring with a 9-man line-up as Jazzanova since 2009. Coming Home thus reveals the multifaceted, inspirational sources of the signature Jazzanova sound.
